Privacy Policy for Chess Master: Play & Learn

Chess Master: Play & Learn is provided by NishArc Studios. You can play chess offline. When connected, the app uses guest player profiles and syncs chess progress and game activity with our service.

Player Profiles and Credentials

The app automatically creates a guest profile with a random username. You can edit your username and choose a preset avatar. We store your player identifier, username, avatar selection, game identifier and registration/login timestamps. You do not need to provide an email address, password, phone number or personal photo. Please avoid putting personal information in your username.

Your device stores access and refresh credentials and a per-installation registration secret used to restore that installation's profile and retry registration. The service stores credential hashes. Credentials are not public profile fields. A username alone cannot restore an account; never share your credentials.

Chess Progress and Session Data

When online, the app sends match identifiers, game mode, computer difficulty, board positions, move history, outcomes, unfinished or abandoned match status and playing duration. It also syncs completed computer levels, read lesson identifiers, puzzle completion dates and streaks, theme and sound preferences.

App session records include session identifiers, sequence numbers, activity state, start and last-seen times, and active/playing durations. Activity states distinguish menus, play, pauses and background time. We use these records to provide saved progress, validate game results, support players and understand game usage. Authorized studio administrators can view game and session records.

Offline Play and Device Storage

The app stores profile credentials, a cached profile, unfinished games, preferences, learning progress and puzzle progress on your device. Updates that cannot be sent immediately are queued locally and retried when connectivity returns. Some rejected updates may remain locally for recovery. Offline play remains available.

Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes locally held data and credentials, subject to your operating system's backup and restore behavior. It does not delete data already received by our service. Losing device credentials may prevent profile recovery.

Hosting and Data Sharing

Data travels over HTTPS to the NishArc Studios API, hosted using Vercel, and is stored in our MongoDB-backed service. Hosting and database providers process data to operate these services. Requests necessarily pass through hosting infrastructure, which may process technical connection information such as IP addresses and request metadata. We do not request precise device location.

We do not sell player data or use it for targeted advertising. This build has no advertising SDK and uses our own game/session reporting. Service providers may process data in the regions where their infrastructure operates.
